Rail Trail KaBoom! Mural

Create an interactive ground mural, designed around the theme of play, to coordinate with the Charlotte Rail Trail Symphony’s KaBoom! installation of musical instruments along the Blue Line’s New Bern Station. This project, while having only one outcome, had many sources of input and ideas. Our team presented 6 different concepts to the group at Charlotte Rail Trail and this one, by Lizbeth Ramirez, was chosen as the top contender. The idea was further developed by the team to represent the word “KaBoom!”, the group who sponsored the project. One of the main challenges, after determining what phrase was to be represented, was to actually get the mural to look like sound bars when on the ground. The solution was accomplished by adding additional bars and make them narrower, to appear correct when approached.
